I USE HAWAIIAN MEASURES AND I ALWAYS WILL.
(Hawaiian measures are half of the actual faces of the waves)

Saturday 01/10/04

Huge surf !!

The biggest swell of the season hit the North Shore coast today closing out everywhere, even Waimea...
20 feet plus waves were coming in at the bay and
The Quiksilver In Memory of Eddie Aikau big wave event contest organizers put the contest on hold for the all morning.
The waves were good considering this was the very first real Waimea of the Winter, but
it was really hard to catch the biggest sets waves. The swell was coming from North, Northwest and
the winds were light variable. Not as clean as we would like to see.
There are couple of extra large swells expected for this upcoming week:
one coming on Monday night into Tuesday and another one arriving around Thursday,
both swells will reach warning levels of 25 feet.
Stay tuned, the Eddie can go any day this next week...

The International Bodyboarding Association (IBA) World Super Tour (WST) final event:
The U$ 20,000 Rockstar Games Pipeline Pro, presented by T-Mobile and Mike Stewart Science
had to postpone today due to the gigantic, horizon breaking surf at Pipeline.
There are four more days of waiting period for two more days of contest and
if they luck, this swell should drop a bit tomorrow and Monday to 10 to 12 feet range
just before it start to come up again.
Check here daily for photos, results and happenings or you can also check it at:
http://www.ibatour.com

Waimea was an all drama today:
The crowd
.

Water patrol and sky patrol
.

The sets waves were not rideable

The bay closed out many times in the morning

The guys were riding just the smaller ones
.
.
.

The current towards the lefts dragged many surfers to that dangerous zone.

It is a late season all right and I won't let you miss anything for nothing !!!

Aloha
&
Mahalo for surfing my site ;)

Aloha Claudia,

Best wishes to you. Keep up the great
work with the website. It's real useful
for me in maintaining a database of
surf observations.

For high surf levels (15 feet face), the average is September 29th (+/- 12 days).
