Awesome half day of surf !!

Surf was beautiful today in the first half of the day,
6 to 10 feet, West, Northwest swell, glassy in the morning with no winds and sunny skies.
Second half of the day saw light Southwest winds and conditions became onshore.
This swell will maintain good waves through tomorrow and gradually lower through Thursday
with heights expected to remain around advisory levels of 15 feet.
Another Northwest swell is expected on Friday with surf above advisory levels.

Contests updates:

The first World Qualifying Series event on the Association of Surfing Professionals Tour (ASP):
the $10,000.00 Ezekiel Faith Riding Pro at Sunset beach, presented by Sobe Drinks and KPOI 97.5 FM
was on today with awesome surf most of the day.

"The climatological average based on 1968-2002
for the first double overhead swell on North Shores for the new season is September 17th (+/- 9 days).
For high surf levels (15 feet face), the average is September 29th (+/- 12 days).
The first Waimea day (25+ face) averages to November 11th (+/- 28 days)(Pat Caldwell)."
