"HAWAII DAILY NEWS FILE CABINET" ("Old News") |

(Hawaiian measures are half of the actual faces of the waves) |
Wednesday 01/21/04
We have got surf, but the bad winds won't give it up...
Surf was up again today on the North
Shore,
6 to 10 feet waves, North, Northwest
direction.
Swell size is not the problem lately,
there are solid waves everyday, but
the winds are bad and the conditions
have been not so good for how long now ??????
The wind seemed a bit more Northeast
today and surf was messy everywhere.
As per the surfing forecasters,
this swell should start to drop into the next couple of days, but
buoy #51001 shows that there is
a new bump on the horizon.
As things have been this Winter,
who knows what is up tomorrow??
It is wait and see...
A new large Northwest swell is
expected on Saturday
with surf heights around advisory
levels of 15 feet and variable winds.
If we luck, we should get for this
next swell, at least, glassy conditions in the morning.
Another Northwest swell is expected
around Tuesday.
No competition today for the $10,000.00
Ezekiel Faith Riding Pro
once surfing conditions at Sunset
were all messy.
Check below for the first day of
competition standouts.
