"HAWAII DAILY NEWS FILE CABINET" ("Old News") |
|
(Hawaiian measures are half of the actual faces of the waves) |
Saturday 02/21/04
3rd day on the row of epic surf in Hawaii!!
A high surf advisory remain in
effect
for North and West face shores
of all the hawaiian islands.
6 to 8 feet surf with occasionally
10 feet sets and a bit of morning sickness in the morning.
Second half of the day had a swell
reinforcement and there were consistent 10 feet waves rolling in and conditions
were perfect after the tradewinds kicked in.
The $75,000 Hansen's Energy Pro,
presented by Billabong,
a 4 stars Association of Surfing
Professionals (ASP) World Qualifying Series (WQS) event
at the Banzai Pipeline is definitely
blessed this year:
its third day on the row with awesome
surf.
Best performances of the day go
to hawaiians:
Fred Patacchia with the best top
two waves score of the day: 17.50 and Derek Ho which in the last heat of
the day
he was placing forth and in the
last seconds of the heat a huge Banzai set came in and he took the biggest
wave and turned around to finished the heat in first.
Finals are definitely happen tomorrow,
once we know surf is going to be awesome again.
Stay tune for full results and
happenings.
Pipeline
Derek Ho in the biggest banzai
wave of the day
Makua Rothman got the biggest wave
to back Door today and
after traveling very long in the
barrel, even didn't making it out score a 5.5 in this beast
Jamie Obrien, Hawaii regular foot
and showing that it is getting
too easy even switching foot
Tom Doslan, Hawaii
Pancho Sullivan, Hawaii seems very
motivated this year.
Is it love ???
David Cantrell, Hawaii
Shaun Cansdell, Australia
Yuri Sodre' from Brazil
Daniel Redman, South Africa didn't
have that much lucky in the first heat of the day,
big cut on his head and a concussion
ended up in a ride to the hospital
.
.
Sunset, as well, was as good as
it gets
.
Aloha
&
Mahalo for surfing my
site ;)
