Windier surf !!
North, Northwest swell, 6 to 8 feet
and
if you thought yesterday was windy,
oh boy, you should have seen it today.
Gusty 15 to 30 mph, looking good
but very hard and dangerous to surf.
The $50,000 Hansen's Energy Pro,
Pipeline, 3 stars World Qualifying Series Event
had their second day of competition
and there was lots of high performances
tube riding and life threatening
wipe outs
against the windy conditions.
Four perfect 10 point rides were
posted in the third round of competition by Andrew King
(Cronulla, Australia), Chris Ward
(San Clemente, CA),
Jamie O'Brien (Haleiwa, HI), and
Fred Patacchia (Haleiwa, HI).
Among many wipeouts there
were only two injuries all day with
former event champion John "Boy"
Gomes (Mililani, HI) hyper extended his knee.
Surf should drop to tomorrow but
another major swell is expected
to arrive on Monday into Tuesday on the
heights of 10 to 15 feet.
