Aloha Friday with huge surf and girls ripping it up again...

Women ruling the North Shore...
After lots of polemics and doubts, we had a permit to run the contest at V-Land and it happened today.
Carol Phillips and Jenn Marr, AWB (Association of Women Bodyboarders) vice and president were able
to put together the 16th World Championship of Women Bodyboarders at V-Land.
In a tahitian party mood, the event had 36 girls from
Brazil, Canaria Island, Japan, USA, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and Australia.
The surf picked up yesterday night and this morning is was 20 feet faces, way too big for V-Land.
The contest was a challenge to see who was strong enough to compete in 4 heats of 25 minutes
paddling non stopping as strongly as one can against the current.
As who ever surfed V-Land knows, even with way to big conditions there is always good waves to ride out there.
Worth to mention the high scores (10) for huge el rollos for Tara Higgins, USA in the quarters finals and
Chigusa Nishiyama, Japan in the semi final.

1st) Aoi Koike, Japan, 2nd) Aki Ogara, Japan and 3rd) Claudia Ferrari, Hawaii

4th) Chigusa Nishiyama, Japan, 5th) Chiaki Okuyama, Japan and 6th) Tara Higgins, USA(Mike Parsons fiancee)

I couldn't shoot much due to back to back heats and my "assistants" didn't do too good, but there it is...

the
IBA Hawaii Event #2 at Haleiwa will have a
professional Women's Division.
Show up there and make it happen.
