Saturday 05/11/02 - 9:00am
Aloha everyone !!
Hello everybody !!
Are you guys missing me yet ???
Yes, I am still in vacation(for
the month of May)
after 460 days of news without
a break.
Today, I just stop by to give you
the
GOB(Global Organization of Bodyboarders)
Japanese event results.
All the photos are courtesy by
Karla
Costa.
With 96 competitors divided in
two divisions: men and women,
the "Daithsu of Bodyboard
World Championship'02 in Omeazaki"
sponsor by Town & Country
happened in 1 to 2 feet waves with
good (but, tiny) conditions in the first day and
bit bigger but messy for the second
and final day.
Top big waves riders showed up
for the event and it is kind of cool to see
what they can do in conditions
like that.
Mike Stewart was definitely a surprize(&
more than welcome) at Omaezaki
Everybody was pretty happy with
just the fact that Japan was happening.
Thanks Mr. Masa Iwai, all the sponsors
and people whom made this possible.
The opening ceremony was awesome:
lots of good food and interesting attractions
.
Everybody partying
The party "favorites":
Masanori, Aoi, Hubbard, Karla
First day of the event it was nice
and sunny.
Kira Llewellyn, Karla Costa Taylor
& Neymara Carvalho
ready to go...
The Women final was between Karla
and Stephanie.
Karla had the best wave and Stephanie
two solid ones which in the total of 4 waves counting
had better result.
Kira performance throughout the
event was much better with some shows of ARS,
but not in the final.
I can't blame her, conditions were
"suck".
Heloise busted an aerial rollo
very impressive for the conditions.
Final results:
1)Stephanie Pettersen/Australia(yes,
it is) US$3.000
2)Karla Costa/Brazil US$2.000
3)Kira LLewllyn/Australia US$1.200
4)Heloise Bourrox/France US$800
First and second place, laughing...
Men final results(waiting for photos):
1)Nicolas Capdeville/France US$4.500
2)Ben Holland/Australia US$3.000
3)Jeff Hubbard/Hawaii US$2.000
4)Goncalo Faria/Portugal US$1.500
Good show everyone !!!
Be posted for the new GOB page
I am working on it.
It will be in the front
page in the next week or so.
Meanwhile,
Hawaii is pouring rain, flooding
fields, rivers opening in every beach and the water is very brown.
It has been flat on the North Shore
and some tiny surf in the 1 to 3 feet range in town.
They are expecting a South swell
to rise anytime this weekend.
Buoys #2
and #4
are showing a bit of swell.
Don't be sad.
I will be back !!!
Aloha
&
Mahalo for surfing my
site ;)
