Slow surfing, lots of other events.

Surf has been real flat on the North Shore since
that 4th July weekend swell.
It was too good to be true, anyway:
4 days of solid surf on this side of the island on the middle of Summer...
Town has got a nice medium swell last weekend, but
you know town..
And on the weekend...
Anyway, no surfing but lots of other events to entertain the crowds:
Last Saturday, July 24, 2004 at Waimea Bay, Australian paddling
sensation Jamie Mitchell (Queensland) continued on with his 3 year
winning streak, taking first place in the $10,000 Hennessey's
International Paddleboard Championship on the North Shore of Oahu.
Mitchell, 27, topped a field of 132 paddlers from around the
world, completing the 6.5 mile (10.5km) distance from Turtle Bay to
Waimea Bay in a time of 1:03:06, four minutes shorter of his own record of
59:59:00 set last year.

Winning $1,150, Mitchell remains undefeated in
international competition and he hopes to stay that way next Sunday,
August 1, in the 32 mile Quiksilveredition Molokai to Oahu Race.
Also happening this weekend, July 24/25, at Haleiwa beach park
the Seventh Annual Hale'iwa Arts Festival Summer Event.
 The primary promotion and development of fine arts and cultural programs on the North Shore of Oahu.
All ages of participating artists from many cultural backgrounds performed and displayed their varied artistic styles and media: music, dance, storytelling, photography, ceramics, painting, sculpture, glass, jewelry, fabric art and more.
