YES, I AM BACK !!
Aloha everyone,
anybody's missing me yet ??!!
The trip to Brazil was nice,
mom and relatives were really happy
to see me.
But,
I am so happy to be back in paradise.
Sao Paulo is sure one of the craziest
city in the all entire world...
"We" didn't miss much as far as
surf goes,
there was no major swell while
I was out of town.
Neither much is expected for the
upcoming week.
East side windswell with strong
tradewinds and sunny skies are the best bet.
While nothing much is expected
to happen,
let's review what happened
at the end of July and beginning
of August:
The exciting
Quiksilveredition Molokai to
Oahu Paddleboard Race
finished Sunday, July 27, 2003:
Australian lifeguard Jamie
Mitchell conquered his second consecutive victory
in the 32 mile international Molokai
to Oahu Paddleboard Race.
His time was 5 hours, 42 minutes
and 15 seconds.
26 year old Mitchell survived the
closest finish in the seven year history of the race
to defeat Hawaii's Brian Rocheleau
(5:44:06) and fellow Australian Jackson English (5:50:11).
Mitchell's winning time was almost
20 minutes outside of the course record of 5:22:48,
posted by his coach and mentor
Mick DiBetta in 1997.
DiBetta, 40, finishing in fourth
place in a time of 5:54:52.
The finish of the women's race
had Australia's top female paddler,
Hayley Bateup winning first place
in a time of 6:47:30.
Second place was Kanesa Duncan
(Hawaii, 6:49:04),
and third was Californian Jane
Cairns (7:12:50).
