Surf's up(little bit) !!

Surf is finally back to the North Shores.
Very small today still, but just about rideable: 1 to 3 feet, fun waves.
It was inconsistent and not very many places breaking.
There is way to much sand around.
But, it is so good to be back out there.
Fair good conditions with light to moderate 10 to 20 mph tradewinds and very sunny.
The 51001 buoy is pretty consistent with 5/6 feet, 14 seconds.
Surf is supposed to increase a bit tomorrow on the North and South Shores.
A new South, Southwest swell is expected to hit the islands as well.
2 to 3 feet on the Southern shores.
Surf's up all way around...

Today, it would be Duke Paoa Kahanamoku's 112th birthday.
Cerimony was held in town
to dedicate a new postage stamp to famed Olympic swimmer and surfing pioneer .
The ceremony began at 1:30 p.m. with the arrival of canoes at
Duke's Beach at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.
The dedication ceremonies were followed by a Waterman Challenge,
an One Mile Ocean Swim and an evening luau.
He died in January 1968, at the age of 77.
