Surf's up !!

Aloha everyone !!

Yesterday, Friday, the weather and surf was as bad as it gets:
flat, on shore, overcast skies and rain.
But,
today, it was all different:
surf was up with a beautiful new Northwest swell, 6 to 8 feet
pretty good wind conditions and very sunny skies.
Pipeline was good in the morning with solid 6 feet sets and glassy.
By noon the wind changed a bit and became light onshore.
Sunset was OK in the morning and
it seemed like with the wind on the middle of the day it got even better.
The 20th Annual Xcel Pro starting on October 28th at Sunset Beach
would have had scored if they had started it today.
This Northwest swell should decrease tomorrow, but
a new Northwest swell is expected to arrive late Monday through Tuesday
with pretty much the same surf heights as today's one.
Surf is expected to be good for the rest of the week with a series of back to back Northwest swells.
The 21st Annual Triple Crown of Surfing starts November 12th
with the VANS Hawaiian Pro and Roxy Pro at Haleiwa Ali'i Beach Park.
Everything you could possibly want to see and to know.

"The climatological average based on 1968-2002
for the first double overhead swell on North Shores for the new season is September 17th (+/- 9 days).
For high surf levels (15 feet face), the average is September 29th (+/- 12 days).
The first Waimea day (25+ face) averages to November 11th (+/- 28 days)(Pat Caldwell)."
