Pretty flat and raining.

The surf has been tiny to flat for the last few days and
it has been raining a lot.
The ocean water is brown with all the rain off down from the mountains.
Surfing and weather forecasters are positive that things will change very soon.
This low pressure above Hawaii now, which is holding the tradewinds and bringing lots of rain,
is just about weakening and the high pressure with tradewinds should take over for the weekend.
Two swells are expected for Thursday into Friday:
a South swell has already reached the Equatorial buoy today with 17 seconds period,
it means town should get some surfing near their advisory levels of 8 feet already by late tomorrow into Thursday.
 A small Northwest swell is expected, as well, late Thursday or Friday but,
it will be below our advisory levels of 15 feet.

This was one of the rare few times for the past couple of days that we actually saw some sunshine...

Save the Pipe Contest

The Pipe contest, the most prestigious event on the World Super Tour (WST)
has been denied a permit for a contest window by the City & County of Honolulu.
We would, therefore, appreciate anyone who wants to show their support for the contest
to sign this petition which will be forwarded to the Mayor of Honolulu.
The pipe contest is professional bodyboarding's longest running event and
for many years it was the world championships prior to the introduction of the GOB World Tour.
The current WST replaced the GOB World Tour with a vision to hold its contests at locations such as Pipe,
with superior wave quality and high danger levels ? an essential element of an extreme sport.
The Pipe Contest has for years epitomised what it takes to succeed at the top of the sport and
has helped pioneer the sport into what it is today with local legends such as
Mike Stewart, Ben Severson, Jack Lindholm & Kainoa McGee together with the countless bodyboarders
who traveled to the North Shore each year to prove themselves at Pipe.
It is, therefore, fitting that it has remained the crowning event on the WST Calendar and
to lose it would be a devastating blow to the sport.
Our last correspondence from Bob Thomas of GOB Oahu indicates that
the permit was denied with no reason given.
He has since found out that the pro surfers have got 12 of the 16 days, 2 days go to Bodysurfing and
a combination women's pro surfing/bodyboarding also 2 days.
GOB Oahu is attempting to get this decision overturned and
we would like to show our support for their cause which you can do by adding your name to this petition.
It is up to us to stand together on this issue so please
