Surf's up and X-Cel pro is on !!

Aloha everyone!!

 The 20th Annual Xcel Pro Contest at Sunset Beach was on today with
a solid new Northwest swell, 6 to 8 feet, occasionally bigger sets and awesomely clean conditions
with light tradewinds and bright sunny skies.
Highlights performances were:
big wave veteran Arnold Dowling,
former bodyboard champ Kainoa McGee,
Kauai surfers Aamion Goodwin and Kamalei Alexander along with
Ewa Beach teen sensation Dustin Quizon.
Surfing conditions on every spot of the North Shore was as good as it gets.
This swell should drop a bit to tomorrow and
another medium swell should be hitting our shores by Tuesday lasting through Thursday.

"The climatological average based on 1968-2002
for the first double overhead swell on North Shores for the new season is September 17th (+/- 9 days).
For high surf levels (15 feet face), the average is September 29th (+/- 12 days).
The first Waimea day (25+ face) averages to November 11th (+/- 28 days)(Pat Caldwell)."
