Consistent surf on the North Shore!!

Aloha everybody !!

 The 20th Annual Xcel Pro Contest at Sunset Beach was on today with
solid 6 to 8 feet surf, good conditions, strong tradewinds and sunny skies.
Highlights of second day of competition were:
local Ross Williams getting two tube riding high scores
as well as Matt Thompson from Australia, who won the "Freestyle Longest Tube Ride" award.
Other outstanding performances:
Charlie Carroll, Pancho Sullivan, Jesse Merle Jones,
Nathan Carroll, Makua Rothman and last years winner Fred Pattachia.
Surf is forecasted to stay within the eight foot range so
they should finish the event tomorrow.
Just before the  Xcel Pro final, an expression session will be ran with Hawaii's top longboarders:
Lance Hookano, Dino Miranda, Kanoa Dahlin,
Joey Valentin, Kapono Nahina and Kekoa Auwae.

"The climatological average based on 1968-2002
for the first double overhead swell on North Shores for the new season is September 17th (+/- 9 days).
For high surf levels (15 feet face), the average is September 29th (+/- 12 days).
The first Waimea day (25+ face) averages to November 11th (+/- 28 days)(Pat Caldwell)."
