Large and storm surf in paradise !!!

Surf was up all right,
it started small in the morning, but picked up during the day
to about 10 feet with bigger sets by the end of the afternoon in certain spots.
Today, it was officially the very first real cold day.
It was so windy, gusty 20 to 35 mph, with raining off and on.
The first event of the 21st Triple Crown of Surfing the
VANS Hawaiian Pro and Roxy Pro at Haleiwa Ali'i Beach Park
had the first rounds for the women and men divisions.
On the Roxy Pro, all of the world's best women surfers were competing today.
Advancing to the quarter finals were hawaiians:
eleven years old highlight of the day Carissa Moore, Melanie Bartels, Keala Kennelly and Megan Abubo,
australians Layne Beachley, Claire Bevilacqua, Samantha Cornish, Laurina McGrath, Prue Jeffries, Chelsea Georgeson and Pauline Menczer, peruvian Mulanovich, Brazilians Jaqueline Silva and Maria Tita Tavares,
Heather Clark from South Africa and Costa Rican Lisbeth Vindez Diaz.
Round one of the men's Vans Hawaiian Pro also got underway today in the rising afternoon surf.
Australians Adrian Buchan and Zane Harrison topped the men's scores.
Competition is expected to continuous tomorrow starting with the rest of men's round one heats.
The surfing forecast is for larger waves but it will still pretty messy and challenging.
