Messy conditions Northeast swell !!!
Surf was coming directly from Northeast
today,
6 to 8 feet at Sunset, strong Northerly
winds and messy conditions.
Not many places to surf.
Haleiwa was one of the rideable
surfing spots, 3 to 4 feet waves
with tough conditions, really disorganized.
The second day of VANS Hawaiian
Pro at Haleiwa Ali'i Beach Park was on with
the second round of the men divisions
with the best performances for the Australians:
Steve Clements with a near perfect
9.0 point ride, Beau Emerton with an 8.17,
Todd Prestage and Shane Powell
with a pair of 8.0s.
Other internationals surfers standout
included Neco Padaratz (Brazil),
Tiago Pires (Portugal) and Paul
Canning (South Africa).
Also advanced on first places on
their heats hawaiians Fred Patacchia and Pancho Sullivan.
You can check all heats results
and schedules at:
www.triplecrownofsurfing.com
Hazardous surf is expected to continue
along the East and North facing shores of all hawaiian islands
through the weekend and gradually
decline early next week.
Another swell will likely produce
advisory level surf heights
along North facing shores Monday
and Tuesday.(Caldwell)
Surf was ugly even to shoot...

HAWAIIAN THOUGHTS:
"The climatological average
based on 1968-2002
for the first double overhead swell
on North Shores for the new season is September 17th (+/- 9 days).
For high surf levels (15 feet face),
the average is September 29th (+/- 12 days).
The first Waimea day (25+ face)
averages to November 11th (+/- 28 days)(Pat Caldwell)."
"No matter how we choose
to go into the water,
whether it is surfing big waves,
surfing small waves, sailing, canoeing or swimming.
It is important that we can enjoy
ourselves and find peace(Clyde Aikau)."
